SOLD SOLD SOLD - 2 Beautiful Curly Cherry Sets - SOLD SOLD SOLD
A common impression of Pennsylvania shared by those who don't really know us, is that the state is a bit of a metroplis morphing from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. These people couldn't be more wrong. Horizon's facility, perched near the edge of the Alleghney National Forest, is in the heart of our rural Pennsylvania countryside. Traveling just 30 minutes from our small town takes you to an even more sparsely populated area; Cameron County. The county contains few people, just a handful of red lights, but some super spectacular American Black Cherry! The magical mix of terrain, topography and climate all contribute to a perfect combination that promotes the growth of some of the best Cherry to be found in the world.
This area was the growing ground for March's special 'Item of the Month' selection. Additionaly, these Cherry logs benefited from one more fluke of nature that developed the loose and satiny figure found throught the selections. The curl is solid and steady from end to end and edge to edge of these pieces. The two trees developed figure so similiar that on first look it appears to have come from the one.....maybe they were twins..... approx 275 bf of perefctly matching lumber!

Pieces 3 through 8 are all from three bookmatched flitches that have been split to remove pith. Check out the uniform figure pattern. This set does have some scattered gum and pieces 10 and 11 have an internal scar which merited measurement reductions. The defect is solid and could be incorporated into design.

Set # 227817
Nice clean wood with minimal gum and sap. No end checks, only defects are a couple open knots on the back of piece 8 and along the edge of piece 9. All have measurement reductions. Great wood overall, nice figure, lots of bookmatched pieces, center pieces have been split to remove pith. 8' to 10' lengths for a range of applications.
